Loudspeaker! Stand with trans and non-binary young people

Stand with trans and non-binary young people
The Kite Trust:
‘On the 22nd April 2020 the Minister for Women and Equalities, Liz Truss MP, made a statement to the Women and Equalities Select Committee outlining her priorities. This statement indicates a potential significant attack on the rights of transgender people in the UK, especially trans and non-binary children and young people.’

The transcript of this statement can be found here.

Excerpt of quotation from a young person

“I feel now more than ever trans rights are becoming less and less prioritized by MP’s. As a young member of the LGBTQ community I fear that Liz Truss’s statement to “protect single sex spaces” stigmatizes the trans community and seeks to attack their access to gendered spaces such as toilets, and gendered services.

She also went on to say she wanted to protect young trans people from “irreversible decisions”; a statement denying the torment young people go through when battling gender dysphoria and the long and careful process trans kids go through to access hormone blockers and other medical means of transitioning.”
